The Best Cities in the UK for a Hen Party Weekend (2026)

From Edinburgh's Old Town to Brighton's Lanes, the UK has no shortage of brilliant hen party cities. Here's our honest guide to the best options in 2026.

Edinburgh, the perennial favourite

Edinburgh consistently tops polls of the best UK hen party cities, and it deserves the reputation. The Old Town is compact and beautiful, with an extraordinary concentration of bars, restaurants and independent boutiques within easy walking distance of most accommodation. The city has a brilliant mix of large tenement flats available for group hire.

Best areas to stay: the Old Town for atmosphere, Stockbridge for a slightly more relaxed feel. Our cocktail masterclass covers Edinburgh city and the wider Lothian area, get a quote for your Edinburgh hen party.

Bath, for the bride who wants something a bit different

Bath is a genuinely exceptional hen party city that doesn't always get the credit it deserves. The Georgian architecture is stunning, the Roman Baths and Thermae Bath Spa are brilliant for daytime activities, and there's a strong independent restaurant and bar scene that rewards proper exploration.

It's a smaller city than Edinburgh or Manchester, which actually works in its favour, everything is walkable, and you never feel like you're fighting the city. Beautiful Georgian townhouses are available for group hire throughout. Our cocktail class covers Bath and the wider Somerset area.

Brighton, the beach option

Brighton is the natural choice if the bride wants some seaside energy. The seafront, the Lanes and Kemptown between them cover every type of bar and restaurant you could want. The city has been a hen party favourite for decades, and accommodation is plentiful, from sea-view apartments to large houses in Hove.

Worth noting: Brighton is just over an hour from London, which makes it excellent for groups with a lot of London-based guests who don't want to travel far. Our cocktail masterclass covers Brighton, Hove and the surrounding area.

Bristol, for the independent-minded group

Bristol's Clifton and Stokes Croft areas have become some of the most exciting urban neighbourhoods in the UK, and the city has a strong independent food, drink and culture scene that makes for a brilliant hen weekend backdrop. The Clifton Suspension Bridge is genuinely impressive, and the harbourside is a great setting for an afternoon.

Bristol also works well as a base for groups coming from South Wales (Cardiff is 50 minutes away) and the South West. Our cocktail class covers Bristol, Clifton and the surrounding area including Bath.

London, for big groups who want the full city experience

London is the obvious choice for the bride who wants the biggest possible canvas, but it requires the most planning. Accommodation is expensive and logistics are complex, getting a large group around the city requires thought. That said, for groups that want variety and a proper big-city atmosphere, nothing matches it.

The trick with a London hen weekend is to anchor it at good accommodation in a characterful neighbourhood (Shoreditch, Notting Hill, Brixton) and minimise movement. A cocktail class at your Airbnb is perfect for this, the entertainment comes to you. Our cocktail masterclass covers the whole of London and surrounding area.

Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool, the northern triumvirate

For groups based in the North of England, Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool are all excellent options that are often underestimated. All three have brilliant independent food scenes, strong nightlife, and good large-group accommodation. They're also well connected to each other, which means you can often pull together a group from multiple northern cities without anyone having to travel far.

Manchester's Northern Quarter, Leeds's Calls area and Liverpool's Baltic Triangle are all brilliant bases. Our cocktail class covers all three cities at the same price from £35 per person.

Hidden gems worth considering

Beyond the obvious choices, several UK cities consistently deliver brilliant hen party weekends while being less crowded and more affordable:

[York](/locations/york) — medieval architecture, cobbled streets, the Shambles and brilliant independent restaurants. A city unlike anywhere else in England. Excellent large Victorian houses for group hire.

[Newcastle](/locations/newcastle) — one of the most sociable cities in the UK. Jesmond and the Quayside both have great accommodation, and the nightlife is legendary.

[Cardiff](/locations/cardiff) — a confident, affordable option with excellent transport links from both London and the West of England. Cardiff Bay and Pontcanna are both brilliant bases.

[Sheffield](/locations/sheffield) — Kelham Island and the Devonshire Quarter offer an excellent independent food and bar scene at prices significantly below London or Edinburgh.

[Belfast](/locations/belfast) — the most exciting short-break destination in these islands right now. The Cathedral Quarter rivals anywhere in the UK for quality of bars and restaurants, and accommodation is excellent value.
